driving by car to chalet zilli dolomites image

Directions To House By Car

‘In winter conditions ALL vehicles must be fitted with snow tires or chains by law’

If you are planning to drive to La Villa, it is close to several major European main roads and thus easy to reach by car, these are the best routes to take:

From the North
Brenner motorway A22 to Bressanone / Varna exit

SS49 which is the the Val Pusteria road as far as San Lorenzo then take the Val Badia road SS244 to La Villa.

After turning right from the SS244 to La Villa, follow the road for approx. 25kms until you arrive at the start of La Villa. Continue through the village for approx. 2kms until you reach the centre of the village. There is a large sports shop called Sport Tony on the right hand side. Continue for approx. 100m and take the first right after the Hotel Ladinia

*Follow directions below from climb

From the South

A27 motorway to Ponte nelle Alpi, then take the SS203, the Agordino road,  to Arabba, Passo Campolongo, San Cassiano and then La Villa.

Turn left when you arrive at the first junction in La Villa after passing the village of San Cassiano

Continue for 100m, there is a large sports shop called Sport Tony on the right hand side. Continue for approx. 100m and take the first right after the Hotel Ladinia.

*Follow directions below from climb

From the South A27 motorway to Belluno, then take the SS51 to Cortina d’Ampezzo, follow signs for Passo Falzarego, and then turn right at the very top of the pass to La Villa.

Brenner motorway A22 take the Chiusa exit, the SS242 which is the Val Gardena road to Selva Wolkenstien, follow the direction of Passo Gardena and then  La Villa.

When arriving in La Villa you will first pass the main ski lift on your right hand side, continue towards the village centre BUT after approx. 100m take the next left hand turn, if you pass the Hotel Ladinia and arrive at Sport Tony sports shop you have gone too far.

Climb to the top of that steep road and then bare left at the small junction and continue for approx. 100m, passing the fire station on your right. Immediately after the fire station turn sharp right BEFORE THE CHURCH. Continue up that road and keep driving past The Hotel Tamara where the road narrows. Continue again for approx. 100m keeping left where there is a small fork in the road. The road steepens again slightly. Continue for approx. 50m and the house is first on the right hand side with a large car park area in brown mono block. Park in the garden either immediately behind the fence on the right hand side OR park in the gravel area in front of the main door.

Please do not block access to the second garage door and parking area furthest from the entrance.

There is a wood burning stove in the living room. It provides a wonderful and economic way to heat the house, as well as providing a lovely heart to the property. Wood is provided and you can find an axe in the garage should you require kindling. Firelighters are in the cupboard under the sink, or available at one of the supermarket in the village.

To start the fire
Rake out the ashes into the container underneath by simply opening and closing the stainless steel rod below the grate

Push both levers below the glass outwards away from each other.
Keep the stainless steel rod vent below the grate pulled out as far as possible and light the fire using wood and firelighters.
Wait approximately 5 minutes until the wood has caught well, then shut the stainless steel rod vent and close the left hand side lever completely by moving it anti clockwise towards the middle of the glass

Do not keep the vents open as the fire will over heat and cause damage to the stove and glass. The thermostat should remain at a max of 300-400 degrees. Temperatures over 500 degrees are dangerous.

The heating is automatically timed to come on in the morning and the evening.
Please do not adjust these times. The thermostats are situated in the hallway next to the kitchen and downstairs in the corridor.
Should you need to raise or lower the temperatures of each zone simply press the + / – button on the thermostat. The temperature will rise or fall by 1 degree each time the button is pressed. This will only affect the temperature on that specific timed cycle and will revert back to the original settings thereafter.

There is a Wi Fi facility at the house that is accessable at all times.

If you light candles, please do not forget to blow them out!!

Living Room Window

It is advisable to leave this window open at all times to reduce condensation

Please take rubbish to the large refuse bins provided in the log cabin 50m down from the house on the left hand side.
Plastic and glass bottles get deposited separately in bins provided at the large carpark behind Durneys Pub on the high street

back porch garden view image

Beautiful Views From Casa Zilli Porch

The garden is split into two areas.

The area as you arrive by car has been recently mono blocked to create ample parking for all the comings and goings of the guests.

It has also been levelled in such a way to help ease the work load of clearing the snow during the winter months.

Access to the piste is also made safer and easier underfoot.

View From Casa Zilli Gardens

The other area of the garden is much softer and consists of tree trunk steps up to the main door of the property.

breathtaking mountain views from casa zilli image

Above the steps is a modern paved patio and wooden porch which is a real sun trap in summer.

Adjacent to the front door is a second set of wooden steps leading to the grassed area and a smaller patio designed  to wine and dine al fresco.

This patio is perfect to take in the views of the Grand Risa piste and the massive rock formation of Santa Croce.

In the early evening the rocks are spectacular. The Chalet and gardens are suitable for families, large groups, and also suitable for couples looking for a romantic and secluded break.
